Long Long LONG overdue!

I have nothing to say for myself.

Max is now a whopping FIVE MONTHS old and I haven't posted in three months.

I'm hoping that this amazingly adorable photo will somewhat make up for my neglectfulness?!?!

If not... here is a quick recap of the past three months of Max's life.
It's only half of his life... no big deal right?!?!

Max is a VERY smiley baby. His smiles are to die for! Once he figures out the effect his smile has on people the world is going to be in serious trouble!

Max and Tucker have become serious friends.
Some might even say "great buddies."
Tuck thinks it is just fantastic that Max plays with him now... unfortunately though Max has a very impressively strong grip and has a habit of grabbing onto anything he can get his chubby little hands on. This includes Tucker's fur and toys. Something that Tucker is not overly thrilled about.

He's beginning to realize that having a sister has it's advantages...

like always having someone to play with...
(he is holding himself upright! crazy!!)
to share your hands with...
to hang out with...
and to attack.
(yes, he is eating her foot & pulling her bow over her eyes)

It also has it's disadvantages...

like being wrapped in a pink blanket...
there wouldn't be anything pink in the house if there wasn't a little sister :)

Max is such a stud he can pull off ANYTHING!
See for yourself!

Thanks for the CUTE ears Sammi!

Max is loving his toys now. He especially loves his Jeep walker!
He enjoys honking the horn with his face and running over poor innocent puppies.
Tucker has been his victim on multiple occasions. Poor guy!
He also enjoys the occasional plastic spatula.

Daddy shaved off Max's baby mullet on October 4th.
It was a big day for our little man...
he seemed to have mixed emotions about parting with his first newborn hairs.

Max mastered rolling over on October 18th.
Now it is impossible to keep him on his stomach.
He has also taken up scooting, so you can put him in one position on his stomach and find him facing the opposite way on his back! He is going to mobile very soon!

Max has THE MOST ADORABLE laugh I have ever heard.
In fact he just makes the cutest noises period and lots of them!

And that's just a little about baby Max! And it only took me three days to finish this post
and I can give you 2 solid reasons for why it did :)

2 Months already!?!?

Max is growing so fast! It's incredible just how much he has learned in the last two months. He is becoming the sweetest little boy and we are having so much fun watching him grow.

A little about our sweet Max:

He has learned to smile! He has been smiling for a few weeks now but up until recently he was surprisingly stingy with them... we were up to the challenge but it's wonderful that he now thinks almost everything warrants one of his precious smiles! They will honestly melt your heart!

He has also recently learned to laugh. We're still waiting for a "real" laugh but we've been privileged enough to hear his "I'm slightly amused" one.

Max and his daddy have a really fun game that they play together. Max will occasionally humor someone else's attempt to play... but his heart just really isn't into the game unless he's playing with Dad. Awhile ago Max started roaring at us. Not only did this inspire his Halloween costume (a dinosaur) but it became quite the game. Jason will roar and Max will roar back. Yep. That's the game. Not much to it but it really doesn't take much to entertain a two month old... and his dad :)

He got his 2 month shots and he was very very brave. He just cried for a second and then (being the overly prepared mother I am... just kidding I just know him really well) I promptly placed his bottle in his mouth and all was forgotten, for a moment anyway. Unfortunately the following week did not go as smoothly and Max transformed into what was possibly be the most difficult baby alive. One week later he instantly returned to the sweet baby we all know and love. Needless to say, we are very much looking forward to his next round of shots.

Being a big brother has not been as difficult as Max had suspected it would be. Since Zoey is so chill and is happy, sometimes even prefers, to be in her swing or bouncer, he still gets (and still demands) everyone's attention ALL THE TIME! Good thing he is the cutest baby boy alive!! So we don't mind too much. :)

Max weighed 11 pounds 8 ounces at his two month checkup and is now 23.3 inches long. BIG baby!!

We just love our little boy so much!

And now for way too many pictures!
There are just so many ADORABLE ones I find it impossible to leave hardly any out!

Big Brother

Our little man became a BIG brother on August 19th at the ripe old age of 7 weeks.

As you can see... he's pretty thrilled about the idea.

Visiting Our Sammi!

This past weekend Jason, Max and I were able to make a quick trip to Utah to visit Max's Sammi and her incredible family. Max also needed to meet his Aunt Amanda! We had so much fun seeing them all again... and I'm pretty sure they were happy to see us, but especially little Max! Here are some fun pictures of our time together -

We can't wait to see you again!!

Max is 1 month old!

Our little stud officially turned one month old on July 28th. How time flies! When I told Jason that he was a month old his immediate response was, and I quote: "Wow. One whole month with no sleep." So true!

In spite of our lack of sleep, we love our little man to pieces and we are loving being a family of 3! It is crazy to see just how much Max has grown and changed over the last four weeks. It seems so strange because I remember sitting in the hospital anxiously awaiting his arrival like it was just last week! But baby Max has definitely found his place in this world- the center of everyone's attention. :)

Just look here and you can see why that is:

And just a little about our sweet little man:

  • Max is getting so rolly polly. His little thighs are especially chunky, that and his pear shaped belly that is. So cute!!
  • His eyes are starting to clear up and he is now able to focus on our faces. I LOVE it! The only down side is that this makes it difficult for him to close his eyes sometimes for fear of missing something especially exciting... not really sure what that would be but I think just seeing is fairly exciting to Max for now.
  • He found his tongue the other day. He is quite fond of sticking it out. He puts it to good use I guess... much like his little lungs. :)
  • We have found a very distinct difference between Max's angry cry and every other cry he chooses to share with us. It's actually quite hilarious. He not so much cries but Y E L L S at us. So cute. It's at those times I am just grateful that we can't understand what he's saying.
  • Max's new trick is grabbing onto everything in reach. This includes his burp clothes, our shirts, and hair. He's got quite the grip. I cannot get over how strong he is!
  • When we put a bottle in Max's mouth we get one of two reactions. The initial being one of hungered panic. This one looks like a little bird who has not been fed for many days and is only now receiving much needed nourishment. Max is definitely a little overly dramatic at times. And then, after his hunger has been satisfactorily curbed and he's been burped, your next attempt to feed him is met with a look of pure disgust. Seriously, I didn't know an infant was capable of capturing this look, but after smelling his formula I have to say I can't blame him. After a moment of this he will eventually succumb and continue eating. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe he really hates his formula and only eats it because he has no choice. It's either this or he's just ready to move on to a more enticing menu of ice cream and cookies.
  • Every day Max faithfully completes his exercise, which we refer to as his water aerobics. We call it this because he will lay on the floor and moves his arms and legs like crazy. This, coupled with his receding hairline, makes him look like a little old man just doing his water aerobics. I'll have to post a video soon to give you an idea of what his routine entails.

Happy one month little Max! You have made this one of the best months of our lives!

Newborn Pictures...

These are the very precious few that actually turned out.

As I said before, our little Max is an INCREDIBLY strong baby boy. So instead of laying contentedly and sleepily in the adorable poses he was placed in (like most newborns), he used his overdeveloped muscles to be as difficult as physically possible for a 2 week old baby. Luckily, Max found that he actually quite enjoyed being naked and cuddled into a soft fluffy blanket. So my talented sister Noelle was able to capture a few keepers :)

So go ahead and stare at our sweet baby... we know you can't help it.

He is just too perfect!

Weeks 2 and 3

Baby Max is now 17 days old and we are only falling more and more in love with our little man! He is growing at, in my opinion, an incredibly inappropriate pace… but since he’s just getting cuter every day we have decided to allow it. Here are some more pictures of our little heartbreaker!

And here is just a little about our Max:

He is a fatty. No joke. You see, babies are supposed to reach their birth weight by at least two weeks. Our “little” Max regained his lost 3 ounces at the ripe old age of 1 week 2 days. At 2 weeks 1 day Max weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces!!! He gained half a pound in 6 days! Absolutely incredible. That’s all I have to say.

Max was circumcised on Tuesday the 13th. Poor little man. Luckily he slept through 90% of it. Which was great…but even better we found him the most incredible pediatrician. Seriously he is awesome!

His little umbilical cord finally fell off on the 9th leaving him with the cutest little belly button I have ever seen.

Hands down, the cutest thing Max has ever done is fake sneeze. When he sneezes and thinks another one is coming and it doesn’t, he makes this little noise that resembles a sneeze. Depending on how severe his sneezes were affects the number and intensity of his fake sneezing. I desperately want to video tape it because it is honestly the cutest thing ever, but how can I? It’s impossible to predict his sneezes. Any suggestions?

We had his newborn pictures taken on Monday, which resulted in very few pictures because it turns out the Max is a baby hulk. Before the session even started he demanded that he be fed, proceeded to leak through his diaper all over his dad, and spewed the before mentioned bottle all over the floor. Of course then he was wide awake and refused to stay in any pose he was put in, but fortunately for us he is so adorable we somehow managed to get a few extremely cute pictures. I’ll be posting the precious few asap.

When we first brought Max home we were really impressed with how good he slept at night, which as you know didn’t last very long. Well apparently turning 2 weeks old had quite an effect on him and he felt that he needed to step up. Since then he has been sleeping between 4 and 6 hours between feedings. AMAZING!!!

Anyway, as I’m sure you all know by now, we have the world’s most incredible baby and you are no doubt all jealous. As you should be. :)

1 week old!

Baby Max's first week has just flown by! He is such a good baby and we love him so much!

Here are just a few of the millions of photos we have taken this week.

Just an overview of Max's first week of life:
  • We are all just infatuated with little Max! Especially Tucker... he has taken it upon himself to become Max's own personal bodyguard. He follows him EVERYWHERE. Pretty sure this is much better than him thinking baby Max is a new chew toy!
  • Max is only a week old and I am already panicking! I do not want him to grow up! So far I'm pretty sure his arms and legs are the only things growing. :) but I have been desperate enough to even consider not feeding him! But don't worry, that idea was VERY short lived. He can be fairly persuasive when he gets hungry!
  • Speaking of eating... Max loves to eat! He will eat his formula from any bottle at any temperature. He's not picky. You can tell when he's hungry when he starts eating his hands and that he needs to burp when he starts to squeak. :) But when he's not hungry he clamps his little lips together and there's no getting through them! He does get the hiccups almost every time he eats which he despises.
  • Jason has become the worlds best daddy and now feeds, burps and changes diapers like a pro. In fact, even though I had to show Jason how to burp Max, he is now MUCH better at it than I am and is sometimes the only who can get him to burp! How does that work?
  • Max is a pretty good little sleeper... most of the time! Sometimes our sweet little Max turns into a little monster. The good news is that this only happens at night while we are trying to sleep, so once morning comes he sleeps like a champ! How awesome is that!?! ha ha Really though most nights he sleeps really well!
  • This kid is STRONG! He is already moving his head all over and is always lifting his head to make eye contact with you! He also likes to help hold his bottle and pacifier in his mouth.
  • Max loves to stretch out! He absolutely hates to be swaddled and acts like you've put him in a straight jacket when you try. He's a funny little boy!
  • He is EXTREMELY kissable.
Jason and I feel so blessed to have this little guy in our lives!
We think he is pretty incredible!

Welcome to earth Max!
