Still My Baby Boy

One year ago on
JUNE 30th, 2010
the most incredible and beautiful little boy was placed in our arms.
and we became a family

Placement Day.

My angel baby and I together on the day I became Mom.
One of the happiest days of my life.

Exactly 1 year later.

Still my baby.

MAX'S BIRTHDAY!!!!

Our little man turned ONE on the 28th!
I still can't believe he's this big already, but we sure celebrated!
We had his big party a few days early so we were free to fill his actual birthday up with the most fun he could possibly handle!

Here is a quick recap of Max's fun filled BIRTHDAY!

Not pictured is Max's homemade BANANA pancakes for breakfast.
He was a big fan I think.

The whole family went to Max's new favorite place:
THE SPLASH PARK!

This boy LOVES water!

We then went on a quick walk around the park to warm up a little after spending FOREVER playing in the water.
Max is just so clever he was able to repurpose this normal boring double stroller into a sit-n-stand one!

But then even that got too boring and Max ended up on Dad's shoulders.
Lucky boy!

A carousel ride was next!
Max honestly seemed like he kind of enjoyed it... at least more than this picture makes you think...

Birthday dinner at WINGERS!
Max is now a lover of popcorn...

and of straws!
Yes this big boy learned how to drink from a straw!

That straw became extemely fascinating to this  birthday boy.

Max is now this many.
Isn't he just the cutest one year old you've ever seen?

The Dentist and SPLASH Park!

Max and Zo had their very first visit to the DENTIST!
I was lucky enough to find a fantastic pediatric dentist here in Rexburg!
They were so great with the babies.
They were very impressed with how stunningly white Max's beautiful teeth were!
He behaved so well the entire time. He just laid on the table and watched and listened (aren't those head phones on his little head too cute?) to Finding Nemo while they investigated his little chompers.
I was shocked.
I expected the dentist to loose a finger!
Max felt right at home.
This table was just right!
We spent the afternoon at the SPLASH PARK!
At first Max hid behind the shelter of my legs and was not pleased when he got splashed.
It wasn't long though before he changed his mind... HE LOVED IT!

If the pictures aren't proof enough, check out this video -

Yes - the high pitched squeals are coming from my little man :)

He did get a hold of a gogurt and after an unfortunate incident (involving everyone near him being sprayed) I gave up trying to feed him and just let him go at it.
Good thing there was water near by to clean this sticky boy right up!

When Max saw Zo standing against the couch today he felt it necessary to congratulate her.
It was so cute.
He hurried right over to her, laid his head down so he could look her in the eye, and just smiled at her...
and then knocked her down.
He is going to make a TERRIFIC big brother once he gets the kinks worked out...

There's nothing to say here.
He is simply the CUTEST!

Zoey is finally starting to fight back.
I have no idea what exactly happened here but this is what I found.
Even Tucker is perplexed.
What wasn't captured was Zo yelling in his face while he cried.
She didn't want to look bad in front of the camera.

The Zoo! The Zoo!

Here's is Dad's attempt to take a nap...
not a very smart location.
Just a cute video of my family playing together. :)

 THE ZOO

**Please excuse the fact that Max is not wearing pants in any these photos. While in the car he managed to untwist the top of his sippy cup and soak himself with water...

Grandpa and Grandma Perrenoud invited us to go the Zoo!
(yep. that's rhymes.)
Zoey may not look it in these pictures, but her and Max both had a great time!
Max figured out pretty quickly that if he moved from person to person he could avoid the stroller almost completely.
I can't blame him. The view was much better!

As you can see from above, me holding the camera didn't even phase him...
So I had lots of time with my Maxers!
Zoey has always LOVED animals.
This was heaven to her!

The Idaho Falls Zoo may not be huge, but we did see some pretty great animals.
A 2 week old baby zebra, some lazy lions...
a very friendly monkey...

an extremely entertaining monkey...

and some very elusive penguins.
We had a great afternoon and both the babies behaved incredibly well!
Here is Zo enjoying her Grandpa's company.
She just adores this man!

Max has been keeping himself BUSY!

Max got this super cool car for as an early birthday present from his Sammi.
His favorite thing to do is to push Zo around the living room!
She enjoys sitting on it and luckily has pretty good balance...
So this game of Max's is tolerated most of the time.
This is Max and his Dad putting together his other awesome toy from his Joey.
How lucky is this kid!?!

Max had a VERY hard time waiting for Dad to finish...

it just looked like too much fun!

Don't let this kid fool you.
He could walk/stand if he wanted to!

Look at me!!

Here are my future pianists!!

Aren't they the cutest?!
I really hope to take another picture of them playing a duet in a few years!

Max ADORES this toy.

It is a very fun for climbing

and sliding.

blueberry pancake baby!
I don't like the look in his eye!
He knows he's a sticky mess and the power that gives him!
He was promptly escorted to the bathtub for a good
scrub down!

Mischevious?

HANDSOME pirate!.

Max loves helping Dad mow the lawn!
What a patient Daddy he has!

Max's newest hobby:
eating rocks.
It's a serious business.

Zoned out in front of the TV

Max loves climbing up onto the top of the couch.
This time things didn't work out very well for him.
And yes. I'm awful.
I took pictures while he yelled at me to save him. :)
In my defense Tucker just laid there... with his foot in his face.

Occasionally Max just gets into these unreasonable moods.
Usually it's when he thinks he's wasting away from hunger
(if you've ever held or fed this little monster you know this never actually happens, he's slightly dramatic when it comes to his food!)
In his defense, he was cutting his 9th and 10th tooth at the time this video was taken.
It was a VERY rough couple of days.
BUT I'm very glad to report that we have all fully recovered from the experience.

ANYWAY, I just really enjoyed how he took breaks from his screaming to shove the food into his mouth and then promptly resumed yelling at me.
I love this feisty, sassy little boy.

Birthday Bash #1 : UTAH!

Our sweet Sammi and her family threw Max a pretty great early birthday party!
We all had a blast and the babies were so SPOILED!
THANK  YOU!!

This boy did not hesitate! He knew EXACTLY what he was supposed to do with the cake.

Banana cream cake.

DELICIOUS!

Max was showered with gifts.
An ADORABLE giraffe his Sammi made for him!
(isn't she incredibly talented?!?)

studly clothes...
Fun toys...
more fun toys...

and the coolest toy ever!
As you can see Max is having a very hard time waiting for us to open it.

This car was a huge hit!

Does Max look old enough to be driving?

Zo even got in on the action!
This is just one of her many (adorable and thoughtful) gifts.
CUTEST SWIMSUIT EVER!
This was a VERY early birthday party for her... lucky girl!
Thank you for including her!

Max and Zoey have always been a HUGE fan of their Sammi...
add watching Baby Einstein with them and they're in love!

We got also to see our JOEY!

We had yummy food
(Max had more than others...
as in he ate pretty much the ENTIRE time we were there!)

<>
Max got yet another AWESOME present!

He's really figuring out this unwrapping thing.

 Such a cool toy!

Max LOVED it!

And so did Zoey!

Zoey got the cutest little Dora doll.
She immediately started loving on her the moment she saw it.
Max is also a huge fan.

Max had a great time playing the drums

with his Poppa Frank!

It was such a fun trip!
Everyone had a GREAT time...

it was very hard to leave.
(This is Max on the drive home. That is a cheeto up his nose... )

*I don't know what is going on with the format....
but I have given up so this is what you get!
