Long Long LONG overdue!
2 Months already!?!?
Big Brother
Visiting Our Sammi!
Max is 1 month old!
In spite of our lack of sleep, we love our little man to pieces and we are loving being a family of 3! It is crazy to see just how much Max has grown and changed over the last four weeks. It seems so strange because I remember sitting in the hospital anxiously awaiting his arrival like it was just last week! But baby Max has definitely found his place in this world- the center of everyone's attention. :)
- Max is getting so rolly polly. His little thighs are especially chunky, that and his pear shaped belly that is. So cute!!
- His eyes are starting to clear up and he is now able to focus on our faces. I LOVE it! The only down side is that this makes it difficult for him to close his eyes sometimes for fear of missing something especially exciting... not really sure what that would be but I think just seeing is fairly exciting to Max for now.
- He found his tongue the other day. He is quite fond of sticking it out. He puts it to good use I guess... much like his little lungs. :)
- We have found a very distinct difference between Max's angry cry and every other cry he chooses to share with us. It's actually quite hilarious. He not so much cries but Y E L L S at us. So cute. It's at those times I am just grateful that we can't understand what he's saying.
- Max's new trick is grabbing onto everything in reach. This includes his burp clothes, our shirts, and hair. He's got quite the grip. I cannot get over how strong he is!
- When we put a bottle in Max's mouth we get one of two reactions. The initial being one of hungered panic. This one looks like a little bird who has not been fed for many days and is only now receiving much needed nourishment. Max is definitely a little overly dramatic at times. And then, after his hunger has been satisfactorily curbed and he's been burped, your next attempt to feed him is met with a look of pure disgust. Seriously, I didn't know an infant was capable of capturing this look, but after smelling his formula I have to say I can't blame him. After a moment of this he will eventually succumb and continue eating. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe he really hates his formula and only eats it because he has no choice. It's either this or he's just ready to move on to a more enticing menu of ice cream and cookies.
- Every day Max faithfully completes his exercise, which we refer to as his water aerobics. We call it this because he will lay on the floor and moves his arms and legs like crazy. This, coupled with his receding hairline, makes him look like a little old man just doing his water aerobics. I'll have to post a video soon to give you an idea of what his routine entails.
Newborn Pictures...
Weeks 2 and 3
He is a fatty. No joke. You see, babies are supposed to reach their birth weight by at least two weeks. Our “little” Max regained his lost 3 ounces at the ripe old age of 1 week 2 days. At 2 weeks 1 day Max weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces!!! He gained half a pound in 6 days! Absolutely incredible. That’s all I have to say.
Max was circumcised on Tuesday the 13th. Poor little man. Luckily he slept through 90% of it. Which was great…but even better we found him the most incredible pediatrician. Seriously he is awesome!
His little umbilical cord finally fell off on the 9th leaving him with the cutest little belly button I have ever seen.
Hands down, the cutest thing Max has ever done is fake sneeze. When he sneezes and thinks another one is coming and it doesn’t, he makes this little noise that resembles a sneeze. Depending on how severe his sneezes were affects the number and intensity of his fake sneezing. I desperately want to video tape it because it is honestly the cutest thing ever, but how can I? It’s impossible to predict his sneezes. Any suggestions?
We had his newborn pictures taken on Monday, which resulted in very few pictures because it turns out the Max is a baby hulk. Before the session even started he demanded that he be fed, proceeded to leak through his diaper all over his dad, and spewed the before mentioned bottle all over the floor. Of course then he was wide awake and refused to stay in any pose he was put in, but fortunately for us he is so adorable we somehow managed to get a few extremely cute pictures. I’ll be posting the precious few asap.
When we first brought Max home we were really impressed with how good he slept at night, which as you know didn’t last very long. Well apparently turning 2 weeks old had quite an effect on him and he felt that he needed to step up. Since then he has been sleeping between 4 and 6 hours between feedings. AMAZING!!!
Anyway, as I’m sure you all know by now, we have the world’s most incredible baby and you are no doubt all jealous. As you should be. :)
1 week old!
Here are just a few of the millions of photos we have taken this week.
- We are all just infatuated with little Max! Especially Tucker... he has taken it upon himself to become Max's own personal bodyguard. He follows him EVERYWHERE. Pretty sure this is much better than him thinking baby Max is a new chew toy!
- Max is only a week old and I am already panicking! I do not want him to grow up! So far I'm pretty sure his arms and legs are the only things growing. :) but I have been desperate enough to even consider not feeding him! But don't worry, that idea was VERY short lived. He can be fairly persuasive when he gets hungry!
- Speaking of eating... Max loves to eat! He will eat his formula from any bottle at any temperature. He's not picky. You can tell when he's hungry when he starts eating his hands and that he needs to burp when he starts to squeak. :) But when he's not hungry he clamps his little lips together and there's no getting through them! He does get the hiccups almost every time he eats which he despises.
- Jason has become the worlds best daddy and now feeds, burps and changes diapers like a pro. In fact, even though I had to show Jason how to burp Max, he is now MUCH better at it than I am and is sometimes the only who can get him to burp! How does that work?
- Max is a pretty good little sleeper... most of the time! Sometimes our sweet little Max turns into a little monster. The good news is that this only happens at night while we are trying to sleep, so once morning comes he sleeps like a champ! How awesome is that!?! ha ha Really though most nights he sleeps really well!
- This kid is STRONG! He is already moving his head all over and is always lifting his head to make eye contact with you! He also likes to help hold his bottle and pacifier in his mouth.
- Max loves to stretch out! He absolutely hates to be swaddled and acts like you've put him in a straight jacket when you try. He's a funny little boy!
- He is EXTREMELY kissable.
We think he is pretty incredible!
