Max is 1 month old!

Our little stud officially turned one month old on July 28th. How time flies! When I told Jason that he was a month old his immediate response was, and I quote: "Wow. One whole month with no sleep." So true!

In spite of our lack of sleep, we love our little man to pieces and we are loving being a family of 3! It is crazy to see just how much Max has grown and changed over the last four weeks. It seems so strange because I remember sitting in the hospital anxiously awaiting his arrival like it was just last week! But baby Max has definitely found his place in this world- the center of everyone's attention. :)

Just look here and you can see why that is:

And just a little about our sweet little man:

  • Max is getting so rolly polly. His little thighs are especially chunky, that and his pear shaped belly that is. So cute!!
  • His eyes are starting to clear up and he is now able to focus on our faces. I LOVE it! The only down side is that this makes it difficult for him to close his eyes sometimes for fear of missing something especially exciting... not really sure what that would be but I think just seeing is fairly exciting to Max for now.
  • He found his tongue the other day. He is quite fond of sticking it out. He puts it to good use I guess... much like his little lungs. :)
  • We have found a very distinct difference between Max's angry cry and every other cry he chooses to share with us. It's actually quite hilarious. He not so much cries but Y E L L S at us. So cute. It's at those times I am just grateful that we can't understand what he's saying.
  • Max's new trick is grabbing onto everything in reach. This includes his burp clothes, our shirts, and hair. He's got quite the grip. I cannot get over how strong he is!
  • When we put a bottle in Max's mouth we get one of two reactions. The initial being one of hungered panic. This one looks like a little bird who has not been fed for many days and is only now receiving much needed nourishment. Max is definitely a little overly dramatic at times. And then, after his hunger has been satisfactorily curbed and he's been burped, your next attempt to feed him is met with a look of pure disgust. Seriously, I didn't know an infant was capable of capturing this look, but after smelling his formula I have to say I can't blame him. After a moment of this he will eventually succumb and continue eating. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe he really hates his formula and only eats it because he has no choice. It's either this or he's just ready to move on to a more enticing menu of ice cream and cookies.
  • Every day Max faithfully completes his exercise, which we refer to as his water aerobics. We call it this because he will lay on the floor and moves his arms and legs like crazy. This, coupled with his receding hairline, makes him look like a little old man just doing his water aerobics. I'll have to post a video soon to give you an idea of what his routine entails.

Happy one month little Max! You have made this one of the best months of our lives!
